Tribes of a Feather

Status

Weather

The season of Far Soaring was unusually harsh, wrought with storms of rain and ice. The weather has become unseasonably warm for a time, but all the Tribes are holding their breath for what the upcoming season of No Soaring will bring.

Tribe Meetings

The next Meeting to be held is Half-Meet on Dec. 27

Welcome to Tribes of a Feather!

Tribes of a Feather (or TOAF, if you like), is a feline roleplaying site based on the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. The cats, however, live in Tribes and not Clans. It would help to have read Moonrise if you want to join the site, but if you haven't, feel free to ask me (Spiral) anything you like about how the Tribes work.

Announcements

The site is just starting out and I've got big hopes for it. All Healer positions have been filled; we just need some more enthusiastic members! Currently, there is no plot (see the right panel for more info).

CURRENT MOON

moon phase info

Tribes

1 SquirrelTribe cat
1 SparrowTribe cat
2 OwlTribe cats
0 vagabonds

Plots

No plot currently. I'm just waiting for the site to start off before introducing it. Ideas for sub-plots are always welcome, so feel free to post on the Plot board if you come up with something!

Tribe of Squirrels
[ ]SquirrelTribe Camp
Sheltered on one slide by a steep bluff, poison ivy (to which SquirrelTribe cats are immune) is woven into the screen of brush that defends camp. SquirrelTribe cats eat, sleep, and socialize here.

[ ]The Forest
The bulk of SquirrelTribe's territory is forest, oaks and ash and others. The trees provide good cover for hunting and are perfect for climbing, one of the things SquirrelTribe cats do best!

[ ]High Bluff
Of the many ravines and bluffs that riddle SquirrelTribe's territory, this is the highest. Though dangerous, is the surest path to Watching Hill, and connects the web of game trails that run through the forest.
Moderators: .:Spiral:., *:Sparkle:*
00
[ ]Bramble Vines
Most often visited by reckless to-bes looking to impress their fellows, the bramble vines are a mess of trees tangled with briars. Some of these thorny creepers even hang from the branches, earning the place its name. If one can push through the thorns, however, they are rewarded by a silent clearing with a view of the sky, a perfect place to think... or hide.

00
[ ]The Rut
A shallow trench wider than it is long, this place has been affectionately named "the rut" by to-bes and mentors alike. It is a popular place for battle training.

Tribe of Sparrows
[ ]SparrowTribe Camp
SparrowTribe's camp is screened only by tall grass and a few thickets, with no dens except one long abandoned by an armadillo that is used for a nursery. SparrowTribe cats eat, sleep, and socialize here.
Moderator: .:Spiral:.
00
[ ]Tangled Grove
The grove is made up of five oak trees, with their branches tangled overhead to provide shade at all times of day. It is a popular place for hunting, training, or just sitting.
Moderator: .:Spiral:.
00
[ ]Rabbit Thicket
Expercienced prey-hunters know to avoid it, but countless to-bes have spent hours trying to coax rabbits out of these thorns. Prey is easy to smell here, but unless you are particularly patient, there's no use looking for it.

00
[ ]Golden Field
Doubtlessly the most attractive place in SparrowTribe, this stretch of land is gilded in the spring and fall with innumerable tiny yellow blossoms. The grass is very tall here, so it is easy to get lost.
Moderator: .:Spiral:.
00
[ ]Tin Pile
"Stay away from coyotes, Keepers, and the tin pile" is the first lesson many kits learn. Many, unfortunately, do not learn it well enough. These sheets of tin from a shed that has long rotted away shine invitingly under the sun, but crawl with rattlesnakes underneath.

Tribe of Owls
[ ]OwlTribe Camp
A dry streambed padded with pine needles and protected by a pair of fallen trees, not all cats of the nomadic OwlTribe spend much time here. Some prefer to sleep out in the territory, but for others it is a comfortable place to eat and socialize.

[ ]The Pines
The trees of OwlTribe are tall evergreens, lacking the low branches that make good climbing trees. Almost all the territory is covered by these trees, close-growing with a resinous scent that can hide the smell of a predator... but also that of prey. Because of that, OwlTribe prey-hunters rely on their excellent eyesight.

00
[ ]Soarers' Nest
The Tribe of Owls is home to, besides cat, a pair of two barred owls. Any sign of these great birds is considered a good omen, and for the most part their nest is left undisturbed. Except by those very reckless... or very desperate for a good sign.

00
[ ]Painted Caves
The painted caves are actually just rocky overhangs that dot a particular slope. They are so named for the strange red and black markings that decorate their walls and ceilings. Cats come here to hunt the prey that hides in nooks and crannies.
Moderator: .:Spiral:.
00
[ ]The Point
The Point is a spit of land that juts into the northermost reaches of the lily pad-covered lake. Its trees are widely placed with sandy earth between, an ideal place to train.

The Outskirts
[ ]Run-Down Shed
A few foxlengths into OwlTribe's territory sits an old shed, long in shambles but shelter nonetheless. OwlTribe cats and the vagabonds who reside here simply ignore each other. Usually.
Moderator: .:Spiral:.
00
[ ]Spoiled Lake
On the eastern edge of SquirrelTribe's territory, a small lake stretches to the Keepers' territory. It was built by Keepers long ago, and has since filled up with silt and become shallow. Because of this, the surface is covered in brown and green lily pads, thick enough in places for a light-footed to-be to dash across...
Moderator: .:Spiral:.
00
[ ]Keepers' Territory
The Tamed reside here under the watchful eyes of their Keepers. It is not a crowded place, just a handful of summer homes and golf courses in a forest of mixed oak and pine. Because of the lake, few Tribe cats have ever ventured there.

Sacred Lands
[ ]ThreeBoughs
At Moon-Meet and Star-Meet cats from the three Tribes gather at ThreeBoughs, a massive oak tree of unknown age. Its three boughs from which low-hanging branches spring point in three direction of each Clan. It is on the south-western edge of SquirrelTribe's territory.
Moderator: .:Spiral:.
00
[ ]Watching Hill
The Watching Hill is the highest point on the Tribes' lands, a steep-sided rise where the three territories meet. No trees grow atop it, just tall grass, and the Healers meet here at Half-Meet to hear what the Tribe of Soaring tells them.
